08-2004  : Lortie Dale Jordan SUE  RF  was winner of the 2 years class and reserve champion jr at the "INDIANA  STATE  FAIR"  in June 2004

               Finally, Jordan SUE  RF was classified 89 points at 2-08 years. That is the highest classification in the USA for a 2 year old Holstein cow.

The young daughter : JORDAN  Rainbowd Red was sold at the World Classic sale at the World Dairy Expo in october 2004 :    25'700.-$

 This heifer was the result of a great mating : Jordan Red  x  Markwell Rubens Ritzy VG 85 2y.  x  Markwell  Blackstar Raven EX 95

The buyer was : Mr Karl Rutten of Belgium. The breeder was Markwell farm . Congratulation for the breeder and good luck to the buyer of her.

In GERMANY in 2005

A new Jordan daughter was sold in January 2005 at the Osnabruck show for : 5'050.- Euros (Jordan Red  x Dorothee  EX 94. This price was the highest price of the sale were most of the animals were black and white.

The buyer was a big Holstein farm of 850 Holstein cows of Mecklenburg - Vorpommern in Germany.

JORDAN Red continues to lead the RED bloodlines with a combined proof from 3 countries : USA, Netherlands and Switzerland. As young bull, JORDAN  Red was used in some others countries : Canada, Paraguay, Australia, Belgium , Germany, Sweden and Luxemburg.

For your information, having had an unexpected high demand for JORDAN Red semen in  A S I A ,

I visited some Asian countries recently : China, Japan, India  as well as Australia and New Zealand. My biggest surprise was to learn that the demand for dairy products is growing rapidly in Asia… since the publication of a study demonstrating the growth of some Asiatic people as tall than most of the Europeans and Americans…after increasing consumption of dairy products: milk, yoghurts, cheese etc...over the past years. 

Big future for   RED HOLSTEIN   and   BROWN SWISS

In this way, we can predict more demand for genetic and dairy products : milk, cheese yoghurts especially from Asia.

Most of these Asian countries, having, in many areas, hot and humid climates with a lot of mosquitoes, 

the Red Holstein and Brown Swiss cattle populations will have an advantage to be used… as crossbred with their native breeds to increase the milk production at first due to a better resistance to the hot temperature .

The red and brown color are more resistant to the extreme temperature  and to the insects.

Fertility of JORDAN  RED

As you may know, the semen production of JORDAN  Red is done now at 15 million sperms per Unit

in 0,50 cc or  in 0,25 cc . You can select the size of the stroh.

With over 30'000 art. Insemination in Switzerland ,  Jordan Red fertility is still high enough. : +  1,6  %

Worldwide,  the  demand  for  RED  HOLSTEIN  semen  is  still increasing  everywhere .!

                                   This situation is due to the fact that :

-many red breeds : red steppes, red Danish, red Swedish red russian breed etc...

-many red and white breeds : Simmental, MRI, Fleckvieh, Abondance , Montbéliard, red and white polisch breed

 red and white russian breed etc...       

are using the Red Holstein bulls by crossing to improve the milk production

and decrease the inbreeding rate.

Inbreeding limit ! ?

 Do you know that already Today:  many of the black Holstein bulls in the USA have the same 2 Sires on the pedigree : Osbordale Ivanhoe  BL and 

Pawnee Farm Arlinda  Chief . That is already Today a serious problem if we consider the danger of  transmission of some genetic defects as : Blad, Weaver,  SMA , CV etc.

Within few years, the RED  HOLSTEIN population ...will be able to help the Black Holstein population around the World ...especially to decrease the inbreeding percent and improve the fertility percent.

In my last trip to the USA,    (July- August  2007)  I visited many dairy farmers from Florida, Georgia , Tennessee,  Missourri, Texas, Arizona, California, Idaho , Iowa, Illinois.

The main 2 concerns of most of these breeders are :

1. improve the fertility of their Holstein cows especially in Summer when the temperature is very high.

To reach this goal , many large dairy farms are starting a crossing program with  breeds having a better resistance to the hot weather  : especially Jersey, Brown Swiss breeds. On these States, the demand for Red Holstein ( with allot of red color)  bull's semen is higher than ever. The advantage of the Red Holstein for the register HFA breeders is that they are working with the same Holstein breed.

2. to improve the protein percent due to the new big demand of cheese for export.

This new demand for higher protein percent is especially true in TEXAS and New Mexico where 2 new cheese plants started to export cheese in a large scale. To receive milk with more protein percent , these 2 cheese plants are offering a higher milk price for :

--dairy breeders who are not using anymore the --BST--hormone and

--having a percent of their cows crossed with others breeds or with Red Holstein bulls.

In my opinion, these new cheese plants will have a strong influence on the breeding program in a near future in the USA...like in Europe where many cheese factories are paying already twice higher the pounds of protein compared to the fat ! This revolution is reaching some States of the USA already.
